Chapter 6: Glomerular Diseases and Cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Glomerular diseases are associated with many solid andhematologicmalignancies.Additionally, manychemotherapeutic agents and post–stem cell transplant– associated glomerular lesions have been described. These glomerular lesions are most likely due to abnormal products produced by tumor cells, although the exact pathogenesis is unclear. The treatment of these cancer-associated glomerulopathies is primarily targeted at treating the underlying malignancy. This chapter will review glomerular diseases associated with cancer, chemotherapy, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).

Chapter 2: General principles in the management of glomerular disease
There are a number of general principles in the management of glomerular injury which apply to most or all of the histologic variants of GN covered by this guideline. In this chapter, we discuss these general principles to minimize repetition in the guideline. Where there are specific applications or exceptions to these general statements, an expansion and rationale for these variations and/or ...

متن کاملIs chronic kidney disease an adverse factor in lung cancer clinical outcome? A propensity score matching study
BACKGROUND Comorbidity has a great impact on lung cancer survival. Renal function status may affect treatment decisions and drug toxicity. The survival outcome in lung cancer patients with coexisting chronic kidney disease (CKD) has not been fully evaluated. We hypothesized that CKD is an independent risk factor for mortality in patients with lung cancer. METHODS A retrospective, propensity-m...
متن کاملChapter 4: Steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome in children
INTRODUCTION This chapter makes treatment recommendations for children aged 1 to 18 years with nephrotic syndrome, who do not achieve a complete remission with corticosteroid therapy, i.e., SRNS. This chapter does not apply to children with SRNS under 1 year of age, nor to SRNS due to histologic patterns of glomerular injury other than MCD, MPGN, or FSGS. The cost implications for global applic...
متن کاملStereological study of octreotide’s (somatostatin analogue) chronic effects on the prevention of glomerular mesangial expansion in uninephrectomized diabetic rats
Background: Diabetic nephropathy is one of the causes of end stage renal diseases (ESRD). Increase of IGF-1(insulin like growth factor) and GH (growth hormone) in diabetes induce kidney lesions especially Intraglomerular mesangial expansion, glomerular sclerosis and finally nephron dysfunction. In this research, IGF-1 and GH production inhibition by octreotide and sclerosis inhibition assessed ...
